Zurich Part II...

Just went out to dinner with one of the people that organized the Zurich seminar and now I know why it was so successful.

There were exactly 42 people there for three days. If you don’t know why 42 is so special, just google 42…

This is a shot of the street my hotel is on – had to wait until he night to get a picture of it that does it justice:

They really go all out here for the holiday season – looked really neat walking around.

I noticed that Laurent has blogged a bit about the seminar here, here (with pictures from a great dinner he arranged) and here… Glad to see that I said a couple of things that the first (and only) Oracle Certified Master in Switzerland had not yet heard about!

Zurich...what a lovely town. I've been there 5 or 6 times. Those lights above the street during the Christmas season are really nice.

It is amazing - you get the proper answer if you simple ask Google "answer to life, the universe and everything" - since Google seems to know the answer to every question, it appears to be some relationship to Oracle here (or rather Oracle of Delphi).

To fully appreciate the results of the Google search, you'll want to leave off the quotes from the question.

Alas, I asked Google Arthur Dent's question, originally spelled out in primitive Scrabble tiles on prehistoric Earth: "What do you get if you multiply six by nine?" Nothing special happened. (Oh, Freddled Gruntbuggly!)

My favorite Arthur quote: "I always said there was something fundamentally wrong with the universe."

Thanks for posting the pictures! I lived in Zurich for a few years and really miss it. Just the other day I was reading on swissinfo that they had changed the Christmas lights on Bahnhofstrasse this year. My wife and I were discussing this and wondering if they had kept the lights the same on Rennweg (we hoped so because they were always particularly beautiful) and along comes Tom and posts the picture that answers that question. AskTom indeed!

Oh, but they did change the lights big time on Bahnhofstrasse - but only on that street, not the side streets.

On the main drag there, the lights are a much more subdued "big hanging vertical bar" in a line down the street. Not nearly as nice, not even close.

I did not take a picture of that street, but I think you would be disappointed by how they look compared to the side streets!

People didn't you notice Tom called them holiday lights. Kindly stop using the word christmas - it's been removed from communications in the USA.

So enjoy the holiday season, decorate your holiday tree and marvel at the wonderful holiday lights ;-)

No, I didn't call them holiday lights. What I said precisely was:

They really go all out here for the holiday season

It is not the Christmas "season", to me it is in fact the holiday season.

Now, if they had a big christmas tree decorated - well, I would have called it such.

To me, these are lights for the "holiday season" which sort of encompasses at least 4 major holidays between now and Jan 1st.

Don't be politically correct in reverse - I wasn't trying to be politically correct.

Oops sorry for the misquote.

Glad to hear you haven't gone the 'holiday tree' route ! :-)

Also glad you enjoyed the "lights for the holiday season"
